The BC Provincial Election was held on May 9, 2017. The Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) have been elected across the province with the Liberals winning the highest number of seats; yet falling one riding short of a majority government. The NDP and Greens have announced an alliance with the intention of voting down the Liberals' Throne Speech and forming a minority government. Regardless, the role of your MLA remains, he or she has been elected to represent you and your perspectives in all government proceedings.
Now is the time to have your voice heard. Send an email to your newly elected MLA with the bold message that mental health and addiction go beyond party lines.
Will you take a minute to tweet your newly elected MLA? Tell them that you stand behind the b4stage4 declaration! Simply fill out the form on this page and the system will automatically identify your MLA based on your postal code.
Together we can influence practice through policy by asking our representatives to invest smart for mental illness and addiction prevention and early intervention programs that will improve our system of care.
We believe change in these five areas will lead to better mental health in British Columbia:
- Focus on prevention and early intervention
- Build an accessible addictions health care system
- Strengthen recovery closer to home, in community
- Improve crisis care
- Lead change in mental health and addictions
